System error after updating RAMMS::Avalanche or RAMMS::Debrisflow

Problem

After updating RAMMS::Avalanche or RAMMS::Debrisflow 1.8.27 to version 2.1.06 using the previous in-program update procedure, RAMMS may display an IDL system error, for example:

IDL System Error
CW_ITPANEL: Illegal subscript range: <No name>.

Cause

Older RAMMS versions used an update procedure that extracted updated program files directly into the existing RAMMS installation directory. On some Windows systems, especially when RAMMS is installed in a protected directory such as Program Files, the update may not have sufficient permissions to replace all required files.

This can result in an incomplete update containing a mixture of files from different RAMMS versions.

Solution

Please do not use the old in-program update procedure for this update.

Instead:

1. Close RAMMS.
2. Download the latest RAMMS::Avalanche or RAMMS::Debrisflow installer from the RAMMS website.
3. Run the installer and install the new version directly over the existing installation.

It is not necessary to uninstall the previous RAMMS version first.

This ensures that all required program files are updated consistently and avoids the IDL system error.
